The various weather conditions that affected Van Gogh's view were sunrise, moonrise, overcast, and rainy days. While he was not allowed to paint in his own bedroom, he made sketches in ink or charcoal on a sheet, which can be seen from his bedroom window, was one of the many variations that Van Gogh made throughout his career. One of the first paintings that Van Gogh showed was Mountainous Landscape Behind Saint- Rémy, which is now in Copenhagen. In his 9 June 1889 letter to his sister Wil, he mentioned that he had been working outside since the previous day. This is the second painting that he mentioned he was working on.
